Audit & Assurance Partner

Trust isn’t built during an audit.
It’s built through every conversation
that comes before it.

Tim Barnes understands that technical expertise is only part of what clients need. They need someone who takes the time to understand their business, communicates openly, and works alongside them to find practical solutions.

With more than three decades of experience in public accounting and executive financial leadership, Tim brings a practical perspective to every engagement. Before joining F&C CPAs in 2008, he spent 10 years with KPMG, LLP, followed by seven years serving as Chief Accounting Officer and Chief Financial Officer for privately held companies. That experience allows him to understand financial reporting not only from the auditor’s perspective, but also from the client’s side of the table.

Today, Tim serves as an Audit & Assurance Partner, working with financial institutions, manufacturing and distribution companies, employee benefit plans, not-for-profit organizations, and closely held businesses.

Clients know Tim for his calm approach, practical perspective, and willingness to take the time to answer questions and talk through complex issues. His goal is to make the audit process organized, collaborative, and valuable while helping clients make informed decisions for the future.

Tim earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma and has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1991. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Oklahoma Bankers Association.

Chance Allison, CPA

Audit & Assurance Partner

The best solutions
begin with a conversation.

Chance Allison believes every client has a unique story and understanding that story is the first step toward providing meaningful guidance. Whether discussing an audit, navigating a complex accounting issue, or planning for what’s next, he believes the strongest relationships are built by listening first, asking thoughtful questions, and understanding each client’s goals before responding.

Chance began his career with F&C CPAs in 2008. He later served a municipality as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Executive Officer, providing financial and executive leadership for a community of more than 30,000 residents with a budget of approximately $90 million. Chance’s responsibilities included oversight of the municipality’s governmental operations and associated public trusts. That experience gave him first-hand insight into the decisions public-sector leaders make every day and continues to shape the practical perspective he brings to every client relationship.

Today, Chance serves as an Audit & Assurance Partner, working with governmental entities, Tribal governments, financial institutions, manufacturers, employee benefit plans, nonprofits, and other commercial organizations throughout Oklahoma. He enjoys helping clients navigate complex accounting and reporting requirements while building relationships that extend far beyond the audit.

Clients know Chance for his positive attitude, approachable style, and genuine interest in helping others succeed. He enjoys asking questions, learning what makes each organization unique, and working alongside clients to find practical solutions that support their goals.

He believes an audit should do more than meet a requirement. It should strengthen relationships, provide meaningful insight, and leave clients better prepared for whatever comes next.

Chance earned his Bachelor of Professional Accountancy from Oklahoma Baptist University and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Government Finance Officers Association.

There are a lot of firms that can perform your audit.

The Right Audit Team Changes the Experience

There are a lot of firms that can perform your audit.

That’s the reality.

So, what makes one firm different from another?

In my experience, it’s rarely the audit report.

It’s the people.

I’ve spent more than 25 years in public accounting, and I also spent several years on the client side of the table. That experience changed the way I look at audits.

Clients don’t need more surprises.

They need people who communicate.

People who are prepared.

People who understand their business before they ever walk through the door.

The technical side of an audit matters. It always will.

But a good audit experience is about more than technical knowledge. It’s about having a team that’s organized, responsive, and easy to work with.

At the end of the engagement, I want clients to feel like the process was handled well and that they had people they could count on.

That’s what we work toward every day.

Chance Allison, CPA

Audit & Assurance Partner

I’ve always believed a good audit should do more than check a box.

Your Audit Should Do More Than Check a Box

When people hear the word “audit,” they usually think about compliance.

And while compliance is certainly part of the process, I’ve always believed a good audit should provide something more.

One of the things I enjoy most about this profession is getting to know the organizations we serve. Every client has different goals, different challenges, and different opportunities. Understanding those differences allows us to provide more than an opinion on financial statements, it allows us to become a trusted advisor.

My career has taken me through public accounting and executive leadership. Having worked in both roles, I’ve seen firsthand how financial decisions affect an entire organization. Budgets, operations, growth initiatives, board expectations, they’re all connected.

That’s why I believe an audit shouldn’t happen in a vacuum.

It should create conversations.

It should strengthen confidence.

It should give leadership the information they need to make informed decisions moving forward.

The best audit relationships aren’t built around a single engagement. They’re built over time through communication, trust, and a genuine understanding of what matters most to the client.

If we can leave every client feeling more confident than when we started, we’ve done our job well.

Traci Long, CPA

When everyone knows what to expect, the entire audit process works better.

A Better Audit Starts Long Before We Arrive

One of the biggest misconceptions about an audit is that it begins when the audit team shows up.

It doesn’t.

A successful audit starts weeks before fieldwork ever begins.

It starts with preparation.

Communication.

Asking questions early.

Making sure everyone understands what’s needed and when.

I know audits can feel overwhelming. Our clients are balancing deadlines, daily responsibilities, and countless priorities before we ever arrive. The last thing they need is an audit team that adds more stress to the process.

That’s why I believe communication matters so much.

When clients know what to expect, when questions are answered early, and when everyone is working together, the entire engagement feels different.

More organized.

More efficient.

Less stressful.

My goal has always been to help clients feel supported throughout the process—not just when questions come up, but from the very beginning.

An audit will always require work.

But with preparation, communication, and the right people working together, it doesn’t have to feel overwhelming.

That’s the experience I want every client to have.
